Saved To Serve || Prophesy Again Pastor Andrew Henriques www.prophesyagain.com Two Rivals Expose Each Other. Time Is Almost Finished. Redeem The Time & Stop Wasting Time
1.**********God's providence still further overruled events to give opportunity for the growth of the Reformation. The death of
Gregory was followed by the election of two rival popes. Two conflicting powers, each professedly infallible, now claimed
obedience. (See Appendix notes for pages 50 and 85.) Each called upon the faithful to assist him in making war upon the
other, enforcing his demands by terrible anathemas against his adversaries, and promises of rewards in heaven to his
supporters. This occurrence greatly weakened the power of the papacy. The rival factions had all they could do to attack
each other, and Wycliffe for a time had rest. Anathemas and recriminations were flying from pope to pope, and torrents of
blood were poured out to support their conflicting claims. Crimes and scandals flooded the church. Meanwhile the
Reformer, in the quiet retirement of his parish of Lutterworth, was laboring diligently to point men from the contending
popes to Jesus, the Prince of Peace. {GC 86.2}
2.********** The voice of God is heard from heaven, declaring the day and hour of Jesus' coming, and delivering the everlasting
covenant to His people. Like peals of loudest thunder His words roll through the earth. The Israel of God stand listening, with their
eyes fixed upward. Their countenances are lighted up with His glory, and shine as did the face of Moses when he came down from
Sinai. The wicked cannot look upon them. And when the blessing is pronounced on those who have honored God by keeping His
Sabbath holy, there is a mighty shout of victory. {GC 640.2}
3.********** At the very time when the world is asking in scorn, "Where is the promise of His coming?" the signs are fulfilling. While they
cry, "Peace and safety," sudden destruction is coming. When the scorner, the rejecter of truth, has become presumptuous; when the
routine of work in the various money-making lines is carried on without regard to principle; when the student is eagerly seeking
knowledge of everything but his Bible, Christ comes as a thief. {DA 635.3}
4.********** The crisis is stealing gradually upon us…Men are still eating and drinking, planting and building, marrying, and giving in
marriage. Merchants are still buying and selling. Men are jostling one against another, contending for the highest place. Pleasure
lovers are still crowding to theaters, horse races, gambling hells. The highest excitement prevails, yet probation's hour is fast closing,
and every case is about to be eternally decided. Satan sees that his time is short. He has set all his agencies at work that men may
be deceived, deluded, occupied and entranced, until the day of probation shall be ended, and the door of mercy be forever shut. {DA
636.2}
5.**********"The faith of Jesus." It is talked of, but not understood. What constitutes the faith of Jesus, that belongs to the third angel's
message? Jesus becoming our sin-bearer that He might become our sin-pardoning Saviour. He was treated as we deserve to be
treated. He came to our world and took our sins that we might take His righteousness. And faith in the ability of Christ to save us
amply and fully and entirely is the faith of Jesus. {3SM 172.3}
6.********** Ask, then; ask, and ye shall receive. Ask for humility, wisdom, courage, increase of faith. To every sincere prayer an answer
will come. It may not come just as you desire, or at the time you look for it; but it will come in the way and at the time that will best
meet your need. The prayers you offer in loneliness, in weariness, in trial, God answers, not always according to your expectations,
but always for your good. {GW 258.3}
7.********** I asked the angel why there was no more faith and power in Israel. He said, "Ye let go of the arm of the Lord too soon. Press
your petitions to the throne, and hold on by strong faith. The promises are sure. Believe ye receive the things ye ask for, and ye shall
have them." I was then pointed to Elijah. He was subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly. His faith endured the
trial. Seven times he prayed before the Lord, and at last the cloud was seen. I saw that we had doubted the sure promises, and
wounded the Saviour by our lack of faith. {EW 73.2}
8.********** God's purposes know no haste and no delay. God had revealed to Abraham the bondage of Israel in Egypt, and had
declared that the time of their sojourning should be four hundred years. "Afterward," He said, "shall they come out with great
substance." Genesis 15:14. Against that word, all the power of Pharaoh's proud empire battled in vain. On "the self-same day"
appointed in the divine promise, "it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt." Exodus 12:41. So in
heaven's council the hour for the coming of Christ had been determined. When the great clock of time pointed to that hour, Jesus was
born in Bethlehem. {DA 32.1}
9.********** God has shown me that He gave His people a bitter cup to drink, to purify and cleanse them. It is a bitter draught, and they
can make it still more bitter by murmuring, complaining, and repining. But those who receive it thus must have another draught, for
the first does not have its designed effect upon the heart. And if the second does not effect the work, then they must have another,
and another, until it does have its designed effect, or they will be left filthy, impure in heart. I saw that this bitter cup can be sweetened
by patience, endurance, and prayer, and that it will have its designed effect upon the hearts of those who thus receive it, and God will
be honored and glorified. It is no small thing to be a Christian and to be owned and approved of God. {EW 47.1}
10.********** We are admonished to redeem the time. But time squandered can never be recovered. We cannot call back even one
moment. The only way in which we can redeem our time is by making the most of that which remains, by being co-workers with God
in His great plan of redemption. {COL 342.4}
11.********** Our time belongs to God. Every moment is His, and we are under the most solemn obligation to improve it to His glory. Of no
talent He has given will He require a more strict account than of our time. {COL 342.1}
12.********** Life is too short to be trifled away. We have but a few days of probation in which to prepare for eternity. We have no time to
waste, no time to devote to selfish pleasure, no time for the indulgence of sin. It is now that we are to form characters for the future,
immortal life. It is now that we are to prepare for the searching judgment. {COL 342.2}
13********** Only let the moments be treasured. A few moments here and a few there, that might be frittered away in aimless talk; the
morning hours so often wasted in bed; the time spent in traveling on trams or railway cars, or waiting at the station; the moments of
waiting for meals, waiting for those who are tardy in keeping an appointment--if a book were kept at hand, and these fragments of
time were improved in study, reading, or careful thought, what might not be accomplished. A resolute purpose, persistent industry, and
careful economy of time, will enable men to acquire knowledge and mental discipline which will qualify them for almost any position of
influence and usefulness. {COL 343.4}
14.********** It is the duty of every Christian to acquire habits of order, thoroughness, and dispatch. There is no excuse for slow bungling
at work of any character. When one is always at work and the work is never done, it is because mind and heart are not put into the
labor. The one who is slow and who works at a disadvantage should realize that these are faults to be corrected. He needs to
exercise his mind in planning how to use the time so as to secure the best results. By tact and method, some will accomplish as much
in five hours as others do in ten. {COL 344.1}
15.********* Some who are engaged in domestic labor are always at work not because they have so much to do but because they do not
plan so as to save time. By their slow, dilatory ways they make much work out of very little. But all who will, may overcome these
fussy, lingering habits. In their work let them have a definite aim. Decide how long a time is required for a given task, and then bend
every effort toward accomplishing the work in the given time. The exercise of the will power will make the hands move deftly.
16.********* Parents should teach their children the value and right use of time. Parents cannot commit a greater sin than to allow their
children to have nothing to do. The children soon learn to love idleness, and they grow up shiftless, useless men and women. When
they are old enough to earn their living, and find employment, they work in a lazy, droning way, yet expect to be paid as much as if
they were faithful. There is a world-wide difference between this class of workers and those who realize that they must be faithful
stewards. {COL 345.3} {COL 345.4}
17.********** Indolent, careless habits indulged in secular work will be brought into the religious life and will unfit one to do any efficient
service for God. Many who through diligent labor might have been a blessing to the world, have been ruined through idleness. Lack of
employment and of steadfast purpose opens the door to a thousand temptations. Evil companions and vicious habits deprave mind
and soul, and the result is ruin for this life and for the life to come. {COL 345.5}
